The Town Hall of Leuven, one of the most famous gothic town halls in the world, built in a Brabantine Late Gothic style between 1448 and 1469, it is famous for its ornate architecture, crafted in lace-like detail.

The University Library of Leuven was destroyed on 25 August 1914. 230,000 volumes were lost in the destruction, including Gothic and Renaissance manuscripts, a collection of 750 medieval manuscripts, and more than 1,000 incunabula (books printed before 1501). The Pope’s College is situated in the centre of Leuven. The college for theology students was founded in 1523 by Pope Adrian VI, a former professor of the university. The Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven.) is the largest and oldest university of the Low Countries (Benelux) and the oldest Catholic university WorldWide, still in existence.
